This handy Apple product will soon disappear from the market

An Apple product that has been on the market since 2016 will soon disappear there. Here’s what you need to know about it.

This Apple product will disappear soon

This is a product that was released in 2016 together with the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. That was the first iPhone that did not have a traditional headphone jack. For that reason, Apple also immediately released the Lightning to mini-jack adapter. That adapter will disappear soon.

Apparently the adapter was recently sold out in the American online Apple Store. The adapter is currently still available from Apple in a number of countries including France, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and also in The Netherlands. This will only be the case until the remaining stock runs out and the Apple product disappears permanently. We saw this happen earlier this year with the SuperDrive. This Apple device first disappeared in the United States and then sold out worldwide in the online Apple Store.

Free with the iPhone 7, 8 and X

Apple included the adapter at no extra cost with all iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone X models, but stopped doing so starting with the iPhone XS. Apple continued to sell the adapter in the online Apple Store for a price of 10 euros, but it seems that after eight years the Lightning to Mini Jack adapter has come to an end and the Apple product will soon disappear.

The adapter allows you to connect wired headphones with a mini-jack (3.5 mm) plug via the Lightning port to iPhone models without a headphone jack. The only iPhone models with a Lightning port that Apple still sells new are the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone SE, and these three devices are expected to no longer be sold next year. All iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models have a USB-C port. A USB-C to mini-jack adapter Apple continues to sell it, also for 10 euros.

In addition to the wireless AirPods, Apple will also continue to sell wired EarPods with USB-C, Lightning and mini-jack. The need for a Lightning to mini-jack adapter will therefore not disappear immediately for everyone.
