If you used a fountain pen in school back in the day, it was probably a LAMY. Now, these makers are coming out with a new iPad stylus.
This iPad stylus will make you feel like you’re back in school
In primary school you almost always got a fountain pen to write with. These pens were usually made by LAMY. Especially in the 80s and 90s these types of pens were very popular.
The makers have moved with the times and now make different types of pens for the iPad. Their latest pen (the Safari Note+) is now available. But what can you actually do with this alternative Apple Pencil?
The pen can be used immediately, just like an iPad Pencil. So you don’t have to pair it first. It can be used on the iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), the iPad (7th generation and later), iPad Pro 11 inch (any version) and iPad Pro 12.9 inch (3rd generation and later).
The pen reminds most of a classic fountain pen from LAMY. So it also has a protective cap. Funny detail: you can attach that cap to the back of the pen. And you can attach this iPad stylus to your breast pocket with the clip on the cap.
The pen has palm detection, so you can safely rest your hand on the iPad while writing or drawing with this pen. With a full charge you can go ahead for about 10 hours. You can charge with the USB-C port on the back of the pen. Fully charging takes about an hour.
The pen tip is replaceable and comes with two spare tips. Furthermore, this iPad stylus from LAMY has two buttons that you can use for frequently used functions. Also good to know: the pen is pressure-sensitive and also has tilt detection. But be careful, apps must support this pen otherwise the pressure sensitivity will not work.
Buy LAMY Safari Note+
Want to buy a LAMY Safari Note+? The pen costs 89 euros and is therefore just as expensive as the Apple Pencil with USB-C. But the LAMY pen is pressure sensitive (in supported apps), the Apple one is not.
For pressure sensitivity you need to go with the Apple Pencil 2 (or Pro), but they are a bit more expensive (149 euros). Also, with the Apple Pencil you always have to pay attention to which iPads you can use a pen on.
