iPhone 17 Design
The iPhone 17 series is coming! Apple is said to have big plans for the next iPhones, because the design of the devices will be adjusted. Both with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max we see major changes in the design. The camera island becomes much wider, which gives the back of the phones a different layout than the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). That’s not all, because Apple says goodbye to the Titanium housing at the iPhone 17 Pro (Max).
The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max were the first devices with a titanium housing. The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) also received a design with titanium edges, but we will no longer see this at this year’s pro models. Because of the new camera island, Apple opts for an aluminum housing, with a glass back. Now it appears that this year there will be a titanium iPhone, which is the completely new iPhone 17 Air according to rumors.
Titanium housing
The usually reliable Apple connoisseur Ming-Chi Kuo expects the iPhone 17 Air to receive a titanium housing. This will not be exactly the same design as with the iPhone 16 Pro (Max), because the titanium is combined with aluminum. According to Kuo, the housing of the iPhone 17 Air therefore has a lower percentage of titanium than the current PRO models. Jeff Pu has now confirmed this rumor, making it probably seems that the iPhone 17 Air from Titanium will be manufactured.
It is a striking choice from Apple, because the company usually distinguishes the pro models with a better housing. That is reportedly not the case with the iPhone 17, because the iPhone 17 Air gets the stronger housing. Titanium has a number of advantages, so it is one of the strongest metals there is. The iPhone is therefore better protected against scratches and other damage. In addition, titanium is more durable and lighter.
Release of the iPhone 17
The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max do get an aluminum housing. This consists partly of glass at the rear, to make wireless charging possible. The titanium finish is not the only striking thing about the iPhone 17 Air, because this will probably be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. For that, the device does handle various functions, so the phone has only one camera on the back.
