Apple released the iPhone 16 series this year, making it time to look ahead. Five new iPhones are planned for 2025; the iPhone SE 4, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will then appear. The iPhone 17 Air stands out in this series, because Apple has not previously released an Air model of the smartphone. Of course, we already saw the MacBook Air earlier.
The iPhone 17 Air is a replacement for the iPhone 16 Plus, but much is still unclear about the new iPhone. In any case, it seems certain that the iPhone 17 Air will be thinner than the current iPhones, the housing reportedly has a thickness of between 5 and 6 millimeters. Rumors predicted that it will not only be the thinnest iPhone ever, but also the most expensive. Fortunately, those rumors now appear to be untrue.
Price of the iPhone 17 Air
The iPhone 17 Air will have a new and much thinner design, for which Apple is developing a new processor. This has cost the company a lot of money, because the new chip must replace Qualcomm’s components in the current iPhones. It was therefore expected that the iPhone 17 Air would become the most expensive iPhone ever. New rumors contradict this, predicting that the iPhone 17 Air will be much cheaper than expected.
According to The Wall Street Journal In any case, the iPhone 17 Air will have a lower price than the iPhone 17 Pro. Typically, the starting prices of the iPhones are the same, so the iPhone 17 Pro will have a similar price as the iPhone 16 Pro. This means that the iPhone 17 Air will be cheaper than 1,129 euros, the expected price of the iPhone 17 Pro. That’s a big difference from previous rumors, which expected a much higher starting price.
More about the new iPhones
It is quite possible that the iPhone 17 Air falls in the same price range as the iPhone 16 Plus. In that case you can get the first iPhone Air for a maximum of 1119 euros. There is a chance that the price will become even lower, because the device compromises on a number of functions due to the thinner housing. For example, the iPhone 17 Air has a less advanced camera system, the device only has one 48-megapixel camera.
The regular iPhone 17 does have two 48-megapixel cameras, unlike the iPhone 17 Air. Apple may even make the iPhone 17 Air cheaper than the regular iPhone to compensate for this difference. Then the device would cost less than 969 euros. It remains to be seen what starting price Apple will ultimately choose. The new iPhones will be released in September 2025, when we will also know how much the iPhone 17 Air costs. In any case, a record price seems to be out of the question, which is good news if you are looking for the thinnest iPhone ever.
