We explain how you don’t disturb your iPhone, while really important phone calls you are waiting for.
Do not disturb
You probably experience that you don’t really want to be disturbed, but that you still expect an important phone call that you really can’t miss. How do you ensure that you only get a notification of that phone call, while the rest just passes by?
Fortunately, Apple has come up with a handy solution for that, with the Focus not disturbing. If you set this, only notifications that you have explicitly allowed will come through and the rest will be blocked. That way you know for sure that you are missing nothing important and at the same time you will not be unnecessarily disturbed.
Focus
Setting the non-disturbing function that you can still be called by certain people is very simple. Follow the following steps for this:
- Open the app settings;
- Tap ‘Focus’ and choose ‘Don’t disturb’;
- Under ‘Stand reports’ on ‘persons’;
- Make sure there is a check mark behind ‘Allow reports of’;
- Tap ‘Add’ to add contacts
- Check the desired contacts and tap ‘Ready’ at the top right.
If you do not want to be unnecessarily disturbed, you will now simply switch on the focus ‘Don’t disturb’. This is possible via the control panel (wipe down from the top right down). There you cannot disturb the focus of your iPhone. But it is also possible to automatically switch on and switch off the focus for a certain time. If you charge your iPhone at night, you can also set that the focus ‘do not disturb’ is automatically switched on as long as your iPhone is charged (see tip 4 of this article).
