This is how you set Do Not Disturb filters for your favorite contacts

The Do Not Disturb feature is a useful tool to silence incoming calls on your iPhone or iPad. Still, you probably have a few people you always want to be reachable for. In this tip, we’ll show you how to filter Do Not Disturb contacts.

Set Do Not Disturb filters on your iPhone

The big advantage of Do Not Disturb is that the function effectively blocks incoming notifications and calls, so that they do not disturb you during a lecture, presentation or when you go to sleep. The problem with this is that Do Not Storen blocks everyone by default, unless you provide a list of contacts that can bypass this function.

In the steps below, you need to check for yourself whether you want to create a new contact group for Do Not Disturb, or whether you use the built-in Favorites function of iOS. The advantage of the Favorites group is that you can set this completely from your iPhone or iPad. This is done as follows:

  1. Open the Phone app on your iPhone
  2. Go to the Favorites tab
  3. Tap the plus icon in the top left corner to add people

Once you are satisfied with the people in your favorite group, you can follow the step-by-step plan below to set Do Not Disturb filters for this group.

  2. Go to Do Not Disturb
  3. Tap: Allow calls from
  4. Select Favorites in the next menu

If you want to use a different group of contacts, you can also select them in the last step of the steps above instead of the Favorites contacts.
