We’ve been looking forward to it for a long time, but it’s finally here: the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have been announced! In this article you can read everything about the new Pro iPhones.
iPhone 13 Pro officially unveiled
After dozens of rumors, the successors of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max have been officially presented. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are this year’s best (and most expensive) iPhones, coming along with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. The devices have been significantly improved and differ considerably from the normal iPhone 13. In this article, we’ll tell you all about the new Pros.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in brief:
- New screen: ProMotion of 120Hz
- Displays: 6.1 inches (iPhone 13 Pro) and 6.7 inches (13 Pro Max)
- smaller notch
- Spinning on the super-fast A15 Bionic chip
- Significantly improved cameras
- Runs on iOS 15 and has better 5G
Same design, smaller notch
On the outside, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max look almost the same as their predecessors. They share the same angular design and have a glass front and back, with a metal frame. The screen is flat and therefore has no rounded edges. The iPhone 13 Pro (Max) is also dust and waterproof again, so you can also use it in a rain shower.
The notch, the notch at the top of the screen, is a bit smaller. Apple has made the ‘snack’, which contains the Face ID facial recognition and selfie camera, narrower and therefore you are less bothered by it. It also ensures that the front consists of even more screen, since the edges are still very thin.
The iPhone 13 Pro has – just like its predecessor – a 6.1-inch screen. The 13 Pro Max is a lot bigger at 6.7 inches. Thanks to the OLED panel and the high Super Retina resolution, images should look super sharp again on the new iPhones. The screen is also brighter than the iPhone 12, so you can read it better in bright sunlight, for example.
ProMotion screen: 120Hz
A very important innovation of the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max also has to do with the screen. The phones have a so-called ProMotion display, a feature that we know from the iPad Pro. The screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes everything look much smoother. You notice that when you scroll, play games or browse through the interface.
Previous iPhones still had a 60Hz screen. Because the screen is refreshed much more often, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max feel a lot faster. This is of course also due to the new A15 Bionic chip, which is a lot more powerful than the A14 Bionic processor of the iPhone 12. The A15 chip is also more energy-efficient and therefore the battery lasts longer.
Apple has also improved the 5G modem of the iPhone 13 Pro. The smartphone supports more bands and should have a faster and more stable connection. Unfortunately, we don’t have much use for 5G in 5G, since the speed gain is still limited. This may change next year.
iPhone 13 Pro (Max) Pricing and Release
Apple has not yet announced what the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will cost in the Netherlands. The devices are expected to be as expensive as last year’s iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. This would mean that you pay 1159 and 1259 euros respectively for the new Pro iPhones.
The new iPhone 13 Pros can probably be pre-ordered in the Netherlands from next Friday (September 17). The release is expected to take place a week later, on September 24. We’ll update this article as soon as more is known about the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) pricing and release.
