This is the Peugeot Landtrek!

Peugeot is adding a new pick-up to its delivery range: the Landtrek. To start immediately with the bad news: in the Netherlands you will not see the pick-up on the road.

In the past, Peugeot has delivered the 404 and 504 versions with an open body and with the Hoggar, the brand in South America had a 207 converted into a small pickup on the menu. In 2017, Peugeot added a car to its African delivery range that was simply called “Pick Up.” The one-ton pick-up, a car in the category that also includes pick-ups such as the Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux, was basically no Peugeot at all. The Pick Up was in fact nothing more than Rich’s own design elements from alliance partner Dongfeng. Also for this Landtrek Peugeot diverts to a Chinese manufacturer.

The Landtrek is planned for, among other things, the South and Central American market and must also be sold in large parts of Africa. The car shares its technical basis and the bulk of its coach with the Kaicene F70 from the Chinese manufacturer Changan (photo 15). The Landtrek, available with a single cabin, measures 5.39 meters in length. The Landtrek with double cabin is slightly shorter with a length of 5.33 meters. Peugeot will deliver the pick-up in a relatively simple version called Workhorse. This variant does not have a conventional rear bumper, so that the tailgate can be fully lowered. In addition, a more fully equipped version will be named Multiurpose. Peugeot will also soon provide a version that is ready for the arrival of a body.

The Landtrek has a maximum load capacity of around 1,200 kilos and must be able to hang no less than 3,000 kilos on its towbar. The Landtrek has in all cases a 211 hp and 320 Nm strong 2.4-liter gasoline engine under the hood. There is also a diesel, a 1.9-liter four-cylinder that delivers 150 hp and 350 Nm. The engines are linked to a manual six-speed gearbox, but can also be connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Landtrek weighing 1,950 kilos in the base is basically a rear-wheel drive. However, four-wheel drive is available.

The appearance of the Landtrek is, although perhaps somewhat unnatural, clear Peugeot. The same applies to the interior. Things like the steering wheel and the infotainment system and things like the instruments and the ‘rocker switches’ on the center console are clearly from the Peugeot warehouse.
