Significantly longer than Austral
An oops moment for Renault. It accidentally put the digital manual of the new Renault Espace online, with the result that we can not only show you the car, but also know exactly how big it is.
Renault has set up a teaser campaign to promote the arrival of the new Espace. The new Renault Espace will make its public debut on March 28, but can already be seen more or less thanks to an alert user of Worldscoop. Renault placed the digital manual of the new Espace online much too early and screenshots were made immediately. The digital book has now been taken offline.
The current generation Espace, which is no longer available in the Netherlands, is already less MPV than its predecessors, but the new model distances itself even further from the concept of the classic ‘space car’. As a longer version of the Austral, the new Renault Espace is simply an SUV. What does it have to offer as an extra compared to that Austral? More centimeters in length and an extra row of seats. The new Renault Espace can be seen somewhat succinctly as the longer version of the Austral. The Austral is always a five-seater, the Espace will optionally also be available with a third row of seats and therefore as a seven-seater.
The new Renault Espace is 4.72 meters long, which makes the new SUV almost 22 centimeters longer than the Austral as you know it. Contrary to previous belief, the Espace does indeed have a longer wheelbase than the Austral. At 2.74 meters, the distance between the front and rear axles of the Espace is therefore just under 8 centimeters larger than the Austral. The front overhang is identical, but the rear overhang is 14 centimeters larger on the Espace.
