Nissan Qashqai

If there is one model that Nissan has scored well with in the last twenty years, it is the Qashqai. It is therefore not surprising that Nissan is very concerned about keeping its success song fresh and fruity. Today we are introduced to the significantly updated Nissan Qashqai.

The Nissan Qashqai is a real sales success. The SUV with which Nissan dared to replace both the Almera and Primera has been scoring high in the annual sales statistics since the arrival of the first generation in 2006 and is now indispensable. The current third generation Nissan Qashqai was presented in 2021 and is now about three years old. So time for a facelift. And it is remarkably drastic, especially at the front.

In recent years, the number of car models with front lighting spread over two layers has grown at an almost indescribable pace. With the current generation of Qashqai that was presented three years ago, Nissan did not fully follow that trend. Yes, the lighting was split, but the two parts were still prohibited together. With the updated Nissan Qashqai, the Japanese are participating in the lighting trend that has been going on for years. The headlights and LED daytime running lights are now separated by a thin strip of the body-colored bumper. It is striking that the two lighting elements become further apart towards the outside. That is also something that the Grand Manual of Car Lighting in 2024 seems to prescribe. By the way, a series of daytime running LEDs are also visible in the lower light unit.

More news on the Qashqai front? Certainly. Just look at the grille: it is completely new. Nissan has been gradually removing the V-Motion grille that has long characterized the brand from its cars for years, and the Qashqai is also having to deal with it. Although the actual grille still sits between the headlights and tapers downwards, Nissan has optically enormously widened the grille by extending it under the headlights using grille-like but closed panels. The pattern of these new parts is reflected in the LED daytime running light elements in the lower light units. Of course, everything takes place in the large plastic assembly of the front bumper, so it is not surprising that it is also completely different in shape, although the optical changes at the bottom are less significant than above.

As radically as the front of the Nissan Qashqai has been changed, the buttocks have been renewed just as subtly. We notice a new rear bumper here, although the biggest news is higher up. The rear lights have been given a new light signature and colorless glazing, but the shape of the units themselves has not been modified.

Nissan Qashqai in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, the Qashqai is often the most popular model of the brand. Last year, 3,389 of them were sold, well ahead of Nissan’s number two – the Juke. Nissan is not only doing good business with the SUV in the Netherlands, but also in the rest of Europe.
