Tesla owners have been waiting for CarPlay support for their cars for years. But according to the latest rumors, that won’t last long.
This is when Tesla will finally get support for CarPlay
If we can believe usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, Telsa plans to support CarPlay in ‘the coming months’. Unfortunately, that will not be the latest version of CarPlay, called CarPlay Ultra.
Still, it’s nice that Tesla will finally get this support, even if it becomes the regular, wired version of CarPlay. CarPlay will not take over the entire infotainment of your Tesla, but you will see the CarPlay interface in its own, smaller window.
Many people wonder why Tesla is now suddenly interested in allowing Apple CarPlay in their cars. For years, the company didn’t want to add CarPlay support to its cars.
But nowadays many car buyers find CarPlay very important. Research even shows that about a third of people choose a different car if CarPlay is not present. It is now a familiar and easy system to use for many drivers.
Furthermore, there were some turbulent periods surrounding Elon Musk, which did not do the brand any good. As a result, Tesla had also sold fewer cars recently. All this now seems to be improving somewhat, but it is clear that Tesla’s reputation has still taken a hit. When CarPlay comes to Tesla, this will only do the car brand good.
This is CarPlay
CarPlay was introduced in 2014 and was first available in the Ferrari FF, which went on sale in September of that year. Since then, more and more car brands have received CarPlay.
CarPlay works very simply: you connect your iPhone with a cable or, in some cars, completely wirelessly. Your most important data will then automatically appear on the car’s screen. So you don’t have to install anything or set anything.
