This is why you should never put iPhones on top of each other

The iPhone is quite sturdy and can take a beating. But what should you not do? Lay two iPhones on top of each other.

You Should Never Lay iPhones On Top Of Each Other (Here’s Why)

The iPhone is robust and you will not easily see scratches on the screen if you are a little careful. However, there is one thing you should not do: it is better not to put iPhones on top of each other. At least, not in any specific way.

This is why you should never put iPhones on top of each other

When you place an iPhone on top of another iPhone, the camera lens rests on the other iPhone’s screen. Especially on recent iPhones, the camera sticks out quite far. The edges of the lens are quite sharp and the glass is incredibly hard, harder than that of the iPhone screen.

When you wipe the camera lens across the screen of the other iPhone, for example when lifting the top iPhone, very fine scratches quickly appear on the bottom iPhone. Of course you’re not looking forward to that.

The solution, of course, is to stop placing your iPhones on top of each other in that way. In any case, make sure that the lens of the top iPhone cannot scratch the screen of the bottom one. Another option is a good screen protector.

Another reason not to stack iPhones on top of each other

By the way, iOS 17 has added yet another reason not to place your iPhones on top of each other (or near each other). NameDrop makes it easy to share contact information. All you have to do is hold your own iPhone and the other iPhone (or Apple Watch close) together.

If you ever place two iPhones on top of each other (or close to each other), the function is immediately activated. It doesn’t always happen, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying if it does happen too often. NameDrop is also enabled by default on every iPhone.

Do you really find NameDrop annoying? It is then also possible to turn off the function completely. You do this via ‘Settings > General > AirDrop’. Then disable the option at ‘Bring devices together’.
