Apple has released iOS 18.4 beta 2 and introduced support for seven new emoji, which will come to your iPhone later this year.
These emoji come to your iPhone with iOS 18.4
There are seven new emoji in iOS 18.4 Bèta 2 that has recently become available. That means that the new emoji will also come to your iPhone later this year. The emoji of a face with ramparts under the eyes is probably the most striking, but these are all seven emoji you can expect:
- A face with bags under the eyes
- A fingerprint
- A tree without leaves
- A root vegetable
- A harp
- A shovel
- A fantastic

Only with the latest software
Emoji are made and approved by it Unicode Consortiumafter which Apple and other companies design their own versions. Furthermore, only users can see the new emoji with the latest software. This means that users with iOS 18.3 or earlier versions of the operating system only see an empty icon if someone with iOS 18.4 or later sends them a message with the new emoji.
Apple added new emoji for the last time with the iOS 17.4 update that came out in March 2024. Those were the next emoji:
- Brown mushroom
- phoenix
- Broken necklace
- Lime
- Head that shakes back and forth
- Head that shakes up and down

Next year we will receive the Unicode 17 Emoji. There are, among other things, a hairy creature (Bigfoot), a distorted face, a fighting cloud (such as in strips), a dancer, a core, an orca, a trombone, a landslide and a treasury.

iOS 18.4
In addition to the new emoji, iOS 18.4 is further expanding Apple Intelligence. Unfortunately, Apple Intelligence is still not available in the Netherlands. In addition, it is still not certain when Apple Intelligence will become available here. The update to iOS 18.4 will in any case be released to the general public in April.
