Apple is introducing a new feature with the iPhone 15 that is specifically designed to protect the phone’s battery. You need to know this!
New battery function
The iPhone 15 is finally hitting stores this week and is said to have a new battery feature. With the iPhone 15 you can choose that the phone never charges beyond 80 percent. Apple is trying to protect the battery of the new phone, because it is harmful to the battery if it is charged at 100 percent for a long time.

It is generally recommended to keep the iPhone battery between 20 and 80 percent. Does it often happen that the battery drops below 20 percent or is charged above 80 percent for a long time? Then there is a greater chance that the battery life will deteriorate. Apple is now trying to prevent this with the battery of the iPhone 15, but the function also has a major disadvantage.
Pros and cons for the iPhone 15
The feature sets a hard limit at 80 percent when charging the phone. This means that the iPhone 15 automatically stops charging as soon as the battery has reached this percentage. As a result, your iPhone will logically last less time during the day. It is therefore advisable to only enable the function if you can charge the iPhone at school or work, for example.
The big advantage of the new function is of course that the iPhone 15’s battery wears out less quickly. This means you do not have to replace the battery after two years and the battery condition will deteriorate less quickly. This is one of the problems with the iPhone 14, where many users complain about the battery condition of the phone. With the iPhone 15, the battery life is extended by limiting the battery percentage to 80 percent.
No improved battery with the iPhone 15
Previously there were rumors that the battery of the iPhone 15 would be much better, but this now appears not to be the case. The battery of the iPhone 15 is the same as the iPhone 14, you can use the phone for about 20 hours if you only watch videos. It is particularly striking that the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has not improved, especially due to the new and energy-efficient A17 Pro chip.
