All iPhones will have a new feature in 2025, which may make Apple better than Android after all. This is what this improvement is all about.

The new iPhones of 2025 have been announced! Apple has released the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air. All devices are equipped with improved cameras, new processors and a longer battery life. That is not the only change, because Apple has adjusted the amount of storage space on the majority of iPhones this year. All devices will come with more storage space as standard in 2025.

While the iPhone 16 started with 128 GB of storage space, the iPhone 17 has a whopping 256 GB. This year the standard model comes with twice as much storage space. This applies not only to the iPhone 17, but to all new iPhones from 2025. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air also have at least 256 GB of storage space. This was already the case with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, so it is no surprise that the iPhone 17 Pro Max also comes with at least 256 GB.

Difference with Android

The fact that Apple has provided all new devices with at least 256 GB of storage space is a big difference with devices running Android. This way both the Samsung Galaxy S25 as the Google Pixel 10 standard with 128 GB of storage space. These are the current basic models from Samsung and Google, comparable to Apple’s iPhone 17. More advanced smartphones from Samsung do have 256 GB of storage space as standard, but at Google this only applies to the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

With the basic model of the iPhone, Apple offers twice as much storage space, compared to similar devices that run on Android. This will no longer be an unnecessary luxury in 2025, because digital files are becoming increasingly larger. For example, applications, updates, photos and videos require more and more storage space. With 256 GB of storage space as standard, you won’t have to worry about this in the coming years (yet).

Apple vs Android

Fortunately, the fact that the iPhone 17 comes with more storage space as standard is not reflected in the price. The phone has the same starting price as the iPhone 16 in 2024. You can get the iPhone 17 for 969 euros from Apple, while other providers now charge €969. Do you care about the amount of storage space on your next smartphone? It is expected that Android devices will also make the switch to 256 GB of storage space in the near future. We often see new features from Apple later on Android and vice versa.
