This new iPhone will receive Touch ID and four cameras

At the end of 2026 there will be a new iPhone that, just like the PRO models, has four cameras, but at the same time Touch ID instead of Face ID.

This new iPhone gets Touch ID and four cameras

Nowadays, four cameras is fairly normal on high-end smartphones. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro has three cameras on the back and one at the front. On the other hand, Touch ID seems a step back in time. Nevertheless, Apple is working on a high-end iPhone with Touch ID and not with Face ID like all other Pro models.

That iPhone is the very first foldable iPhone from Apple, also known as the iPhone Fold. The information about the four cameras and Touch ID comes from Mark Gurman Van Bloomberg. He says that Apple Touch ID is built in the Power button of the iPhone Fold, probably to save space on the inside. Apple has previously integrated Touch ID in the lock button of the iPad, iPad Air and iPad Mini.

You can expect this from the iPhone Fold

The iPhone Fold will probably get a 5.5-inch screen on the outside and a 7.8-inch screen on the inside where there is no visible fold. For comparison: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Has a screen of 6.5 and one of 8 inches, so the first foldable iPhone is a bit smaller.

In the development of the iPhone Fold, Apple emphasizes improving energy efficiency. For example, by reducing components such as the screen driver to make room for more battery cells. Partly for that reason, Apple opts for Touch ID on the new iPhone. The device probably uses battery cells with a high density, possibly the same that Apple uses in the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.

Gurman also says that the foldable iPhone will use the second generation C2 modem for mobile connectivity. Apple introduced the C1 modem in the iPhone 16th earlier this year and is therefore working on a new version. In addition, the iPhone Fold will not get a physical SIM card slot and therefore only works with an ESIM.
