Today, however, it is about the question of questions in retrospect: which car was really most often searched for on AutoWeek.nl? Unfortunately, the answer is not as exciting as hoped. Although the sales figures are now singing a completely different song, the Volkswagen Golf is and remains the most popular car online. The BMW 3 Series traditionally also performs well in this area, finishing just below the Golf. In third place we find a car that also sold very well in 2022: the Kia Niro.
Well, what exactly are we talking about? We are talking about the car that was most searched for on AutoWeek.nl in 2022, without further restrictions. So not limited to Carbase and the category ‘New cars’, not limited to tests or car news and not limited to a particular search method. Whether you enter the relevant car model in the search bar, look it up via Google or entrust it to our site via the drop-down menus of Carbase: if it is looked up on AutoWeek.nl, it counts.
Immediately below the top 3, this list actually becomes a bit more interesting, because we did not despise the Mercedes-Benz C-class in fourth place. Other somewhat notable top scorers: the Tesla Model 3 (and not the Y), the Toyota Yaris, the Porsche 911 and, yes, the Audi A6. Once again it appears that ‘looking for a car’ is certainly not the same as ‘buying a car’.
