This way you can copy multiple items via clipboard history

copy paste plagiarism

From the first day that you were at a computer, you have learned to copy and paste. Every item that you copy keeps the system temporarily in the clipboard history. Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V have meanwhile become so well established that we would almost forget that this basic function has become much more powerful more than years ago.

Step 1: Switch on and off

In Windows 10 the old clipboard was finally improved. For that, the clipboard could only save the last item and if you still wanted to hold multiple items, you had to rely on third-party software. In Windows 10, your PC can store multiple items in the so-called clipboard history if such an item is no larger than 4 MB. For this you need the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (1809). To activate this function, open the Settings and you go to System. In the dialog that follows, choose in the left column Clipboard. Then you see the function Clipboard history, which you can switch on and off.

Step 2: Synchronize

You will also see the function in this window Synchronize between devices stand. To make this possible, Windows uses the Microsoft cloud. Make sure that the computers with which you share this clipboard have also performed the Windows 10 update and that you are logged in with the same Microsoft account. There is also a button in the settings to synchronize the clipboard with your phone. For this you will be redirected to a beta version of Swiftkey, but this detour does not work yet.

Step 3: Attach and remove

To see what is in the clipboard history, use the Windows key + V key combination. You click on the item to paste it into the program that is running. If you often have to paste the same image or piece of text, you can attach it to the clipboard. To do this, search the clipboard history for the item that you want to use multiple times, click on the three dots next to the item and choose Attach. Here you can also see the assignments remove and Delete all stand. With the latter function you remove all clipboard information that is on the device and in the cloud at Microsoft, with the exception of the items that you have pinned. The same happens when you restart the PC. You will have lost all clipboard items except the parts you have attached.

You can pin and delete every item in the clipboard history.
