Supermarket chain Albert Heijn has been using personal offers for several years, based on purchases you make in combination with the Bonus card. These Bonus offers have recently changed: the personal My AH Box, which is only accessible via the AH app. This way you can use the AH My Bonus Box without an app on your smartphone.
Albert Heijn is not averse to collecting and using customer data. That started years ago with the introduction of the Bonus card, where only the discounts of the offers are deducted if you scan your card. Later followed the personal Bonuses, where your purchase history is used for personal offers. These offers only apply if you create an account (including mandatory personal data). You could then access these personal offers when you log in to the site or app of the AH. These personal offers have recently been overhauled: it has been renamed as My Bonus Box and can only be accessed via an app on your smartphone or tablet. For example, Albert Heijn forces its app on every user, which opens possible doors for the supermarket chain to collect device and location data and send notifications.
Fortunately, there is a way to use the My AH Box on your PC, without using a smartphone or tablet. Unfortunately, we cannot ignore the app for this. Not only can you use the Bonus Box on your PC, but you also make it impossible for Albert Heijn to collect device and location data or to send you notifications via the app.
Android Emulator
Via an Android Emulator you can use the AH app on your PC and still use the personal Bonus offers. There are several Android emulators, of which Bluestacks is the best known. Bluestacks offers a lot of possibilities, but in this case we keep it as easy as possible with the free LDPlayer. This Android emulator uses an older Android version (7.1). For the Bonus Box fine for the time being, but if you want to use the Android Emulator in multiple ways, it may be less suitable.
When you have downloaded and installed the LDPlayer, a screen will appear with the Androidinterface, with many Android games pre-installed. The Play Store is also accessible, you will find it in the folder System Apps. When you open the Play Store, you must log in with a Google Account. It is best to use a new account for this. Because you only use this account for this AH app, you don’t have to remember the details. When Google asks for your phone number, press at the bottom left Skip. After you have logged in, you can enter the Play Store and browse the available apps. The Albert Heijn app is available as usual.
After you have installed the Albert Heijn app, an icon will appear on your Android home screen. The app just works as usual, although it can be a bit slow at times. To use the AH Bonus Box, log in with your Albert Heijn account. If desired, you can also create a new account. If you do not plan to use the grocery delivery service of the supermarket, you can also simply use the address details and the telephone number of your local branch for your account. This way you do not have to give up your private data to be able to use offers.
After you have logged in, you will find the AH Bonus Box at the Bonus tab at the bottom of the app. Then click on the animation of the Bonus Box. You can choose new offers every Monday. You only have to start the LDPlayer on the PC and open the Albert Heijn app.
