This WhatsApp feature makes stalkers happy (and here’s how to turn it off)
The website WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp is getting a new function. This new feature certainly makes stalkers happy, because it allows you to see even better who has recently been online on WhatsApp.
The feature was already in a beta version for Android smartphones, but has now also surfaced in the beta for iPhones. Usually, the features from the beta eventually end up in the official release.
The new feature shows a list of WhatsApp contacts who have recently been online. You will then see this list when you start a new chat conversation. WABetaInfo does say that the list does not show who is online at that exact moment, but should be seen more as an indication of whether someone is often active on WhatsApp.
Recently turned off online in WhatsApp
WhatsApp has long allowed you to see when someone was last online. This is at the top of the screen when you have a chat conversation open. Stalkers often like to know WhatsApp data as well.
To disable this feature you must be in the ‘Settings’ window. You will probably also be able to disable your appearance in the ‘recently online’ contact list this way.
Turn off last seen in WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp and tap ‘Settings’ in the chat overview;
- Go to ‘Privacy’;
- Tap ‘Last seen & online’;
- Choose ‘Nobody’;
