There have been rumors for some time that the iPhone 13 will finally get a smaller notch than its predecessors. Now we also know how Apple is going to do this.
Smaller notch on iPhone 13 due to shrinking Face ID sensor
Apple has been using the same notch since the iPhone X to process all kinds of sensors and cameras. Compared to the competition, the design now looks a bit dated. Fortunately, rumors state that the iPhone 13 will finally get a smaller notch.
How Apple does that? According to DigiTimes shrinks the Face ID sensor by about 40 to 50 percent. As a result, less space is required and the notch can therefore become a bit smaller. The ear speaker may move to the screen edge, so Apple can save even more space.
A smaller notch is not the only reason that Apple is working on Face ID on the iPhone 13. DigiTimes writes that a smaller sensor is cheaper to produce. The accompanying chip may also receive new functions. Unfortunately, the website does not write exactly what we should think about.
We already know this about the iPhone 13
Apple will likely announce the iPhone 13 series in September. We already know quite a lot about the new smartphones. In addition to a smaller notch, the iPhone 13 Pro models are likely to get a 120Hz ProMotion screen. Such a display has been in the iPad Pro for years and provides smooth images. The pixels are refreshed 120 times per second.
Apple is also expected to include better cameras in the smaller iPhone 13 Pro. The smartphone may have the exact same cameras as the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Now you can take significantly better pictures with the iPhone 12 Pro Max than with the regular iPhone 12 Pro.
