Tip: Pair Bluetooth headset with iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch

Plugging in a cord from your headphones to your Mac and iPhone is very easy, but a wireless Bluetooth headset requires a little more effort. Follow the steps in this tip and you’ll be able to listen to music before you know it.

Pairing a Bluetooth headset with iPhone: this is how it works

There are many reasons why you do not want to have a wire connected to your iPhone. It is useful if you are going to exercise and you do not have to worry about a cable, but also if you travel often and you only have to quickly put in your earphones to start listening. Connecting a bluetooth headset to an iPhone is the same for the iPad and iPod touch, so you can also use the step-by-step plan below.

Tip: Pair Bluetooth headset with iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch

Pair Bluetooth headset with iPhone

  1. Switch the headset on in ‘Pairing’ mode. This means that the headset is looking for a device to pair with. In 9 out of 10 cases, you activate this mode by simply turning on unpaired headphones;
  2. Now grab your iPhone and go to Settings;
  3. Select ‘bluetooth’ and set the switch to green;
  4. It may take a while, but the headset should appear in the overview after a while. Tap to pair the headset.

An easy way to check that you are properly connected is a small battery icon that appears next to the bluetooth symbol. This way you know not only that you are connected, but also how full your headphones are.

If you have such a wireless headset, you will probably want to use it at home as well. With your iMac and MacBook it works slightly differently than an iOS device, but if you follow all the steps below, it again shouldn’t take longer than a minute.
