Get back deleted WhatsApp messages on your iPhone
Most of us use WhatsApp regularly. It is a very useful means of communication, but it ensures that your storage space is filled faster with old WhatsApp conversations. It is therefore wise to delete it from time to time.
But what if you cleared WhatsApp conversations which you didn’t intend? Don’t worry, you can probably get the deleted WhatsApp messages back if you get to it quickly. That is how it works:
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone;
- Tap the ‘Settings’ tab at the bottom right of the screen;
- Then tap on ‘Chats’ and choose ‘Backup Chats’;
- Check when the last backup was made;
Is this within the time that your deleted WhatsApp messages were sent? Then you can retrieve the messages.
- Quit WhatsApp and delete the app from your iPhone;
- Download WhatsApp again from the App Store;
- When installing, choose to restore the latest backup.
When restoring the backup, make sure that the date and time are correct. All your (deleted) chats, photos and videos will now be restored. Depending on the size of this backup, it may take a few minutes. Keep in mind that all messages you have received after this date and time will be lost as soon as you restore the backup.
Are you unable to recover old messages? Then there is a good chance that the chats have been permanently deleted. To avoid this in the future, it is wise to enable an automatic backup. By setting this to ‘daily’, your chats will be backed up every day.
