Since the iOS 13.4 update, it is possible to share entire folders in your iCloud with other people. Very useful of course for work or school projects. That’s how you do it.
Sharing iCloud folders with others: this is how it works
Originally, the share function was intended for the major iOS 13 update of September 2019. Apple then encountered a number of problems. It was already possible to collaborate in iCloud files, but you couldn’t share folders yet.

With the latest update, you have the option to share entire folders with others in the Files app. Very useful for work or school projects, because in a shared folder, participants can open the files and make changes. It goes like this.
- Open the Files app in your iPhone or iPad;
- Go to your iCloud Drive by tapping the location ‘iCloud Drive’ under ‘Browse’;
- Tap and hold the folder you want to share and tap ‘Share’;
- You will now see the pane. Swipe up the window to see it in its entirety;
- Tap on ‘Add people’;
- When you’re done, choose the way you want to send a sharing invitation.

Adjust sharing accessibility
You choose which rights the people with whom you share the folder get. You do this under ‘Sharing options’. It is checked by default that the folder is accessible to people you invite, and that these people can also make changes to your folder.
You can also choose to make your map public. Then choose the option ‘Everyone who has the link’. Under ‘Authorization’ you can also tick the option ‘read only’. The people you share the folder with can see the contents of the folder, but are not allowed to make any changes.
