There are no fewer than 60 dials available for the Apple Watch, but Apple phases out a few with every software update. When you install Watchos 26 in September, five will disappear again.

Last year, Apple removed four dials with the update to Watchos 11. The smart stack with widgets replaced the Siri-Guide plate, but Apple then also removed the analog chronograph, explorer, portrait and figures-guide plates. Since then we have also received a few dials for that, namely Flux, reflections, pride and unity.

At present, Apple has not shown new dials for the Apple Watch as part of the new Watchos 26. They will probably only appear in September, when the new operating system also becomes available to the general public. But there are already five dials that will be removed. These are them:

1. Fire and water
2. Gap
3. Liquid metal
4. Toy Story
5. Mist

It is not clear why Apple has chosen these dials, but there is a good chance that it has to do with the fact that they were used less often.

No digital effects

Apple has spared nor effort at the time creating these dials for the Apple Watch. The company then used practical elements instead of digital effects. Apple designer Alan Dye then said the following:

“We probably could have done this dig from this, but we actual shot all of this practicalally in a studio. What I love about the fact that is this is that it’s just so indicative of how the design team works. “We could probably have done this digitally, but we have filmed everything in a studio. What I like about this approach is that it shows so well how the design team works. It was really that we brought different talents to create these dials. There were of course art directors, color experts and graphic designers that we would ultimately bend in this.”
