Apple dominates top 10
The top 10 best-selling phones worldwide in 2022 have been revealed. Counterpoint Research data shows that Apple occupies no less than eight of the ten spots in the top 10 best-selling phones. So Apple did good business last year, despite a number of major setbacks at the end of 2022.

iPhone 13 best-selling phone of 2022
The big winner of 2022 is the iPhone 13. Of all phones sold worldwide, no less than 5 percent was an iPhone 13, which puts the phone well in first place of the best-selling phones in 2022. The iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max follow in second and third.
Especially the listing of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is surprising in this list. This is the first time that a Pro Max model has finished higher than the ‘normal’ Pro in the year that the phones were launched. However, these figures may be distorted by the production problems of the iPhone 14 Pro, as a result of which Apple sold (much) fewer iPhone 14 Pros in the last months of 2022.
It is not surprising that of the iPhone 14 series, only the iPhone 14 Plus does not appear in the list of best-selling phones in 2022. Apple previously temporarily stopped production of the iPhone 14 Plus due to disappointing sales figures. This is now also reflected in the overview of best-selling phones. - iPhone 13 Pro Max – 2.6%
- iPhone 14 Pro Max – 1.7%
- Samsung Galaxy A13 – 1.6%
- iPhone 13 Pro – 1.6%
- iPhone 12 – 1.5%
- iPhone 14 – 1.4%
- iPhone 14 Pro – 1.2%
- iPhone SE (2022) – 1.1%
- Samsung Galaxy A03 – 1.1%
The percentages behind the telephones indicate what percentage of the telephones sold worldwide consists of that device. So, of the total number of devices sold last year, 2.6 percent is an iPhone 13 Pro Max and 1.7 percent an iPhone 14 Pro Max. In total, 28 percent of all iPhones sold last year were an iPhone 13, making it the best-selling phone of 2022.
