Toyota comes with an electric SUV!

Toyota will unveil an all-electric SUV in April, an all-new EV to be featured on the e-TNGA platform dedicated to electric vehicles. Toyota already shows a teaser image of the car.

From 21 to 28 April, the Shanghai Motor Show will take place, a gigantic Chinese car show that already looks set to be interesting. Toyota presents a fully electric SUV, an electric car that Toyota itself classifies as one midsize SUV. It is expected to be a fully electric RAV4-sized SUV with which Toyota will target cars such as the Volkswagen ID4 and Nissan Ariya.

Toyota’s as yet unnamed new electric SUV is the brand’s first vehicle to feature on the e-TNGA platform, a modular base developed specifically for electric vehicles that is suitable for both front, all-wheel and rear-wheel drive. Toyota’s now-announced electric SUV will certainly have a slew of smaller and larger EVs alongside it. At the end of 2019, Techzle was already able to exclusively show a whole series of patent plates of new electric Toyotas, the announced electric Toyota may show design similarities with one of the copies visible on those drawings. The now announced new electric SUV from Toyota is not Toyota’s first electric SUV. In China, the Toyota-GAC joint venture already sells electric versions of the C-HR, and Toyota already sold a series of electric versions of both the first and second generation RAV4 in the United States. We expect the new Toyota electric SUV to be on the market in Europe this year.

There is also more interesting Toyota news in the barrel. This week, Toyota is pulling the curtain off the X Prologue, a study model with which Toyota is very likely to give a hint to the successor to the Aygo. You can read more about this here.
