Toyota lifts workhorse Hilux in a sporty GR Sport suit. The Hilux GR Sport distinguishes itself with more than just external adjustments from its less dynamically executed farmers.

We already know Toyota’s GR Sport versions from cars like the Yaris, Corolla, C-HR and even from the new Land Cruiser. Last year Toyota already introduced GR Sport versions of the Hilux in Thailand and Japan and although Toyota indicated at the time that nothing was known about the possible arrival of such a variant in the Netherlands, Toyota is now also launching a Hilux GR Sport in the Netherlands.

The Hilux GR Sport is a sporty version of the Hilux that is only available in the pick-up in combination with the most powerful diesel engine that Toyota supplies. That means that the 150 hp 2.4 passes the nose of the Hilux GR Sport and you are immediately treated to the more powerful 204 hp and 500 Nm strong 2.8 diesel engine. The GR Sport is recognizable from the outside by an extensive array of black accents. For example, the Hilux in GR Sport trim has a special grille with a thick plastic frame. The Toyota brand name is written in capital letters in the center of the grille. So no Toyota logo in the nose!

More GR Sport fun comes in the form of custom fog lamp housings, special 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires wrapped around them, and black features like side mirror caps, wheel arch edges and even a black tailgate.

As mentioned, it does not remain purely for appearance. For example, Toyota has adapted the suspension so that the Hilux GR Sport, according to its creators, must be more direct than its less sporty brothers. Toyota reports new shock absorbers and front springs and says it has also revised the rear leaf springs.

Standard equipment for the Hilux GR Sport includes leather and suede covered sport seats with GR logos and red stitching. Behind the wheel are paddle shifters, the Hilux gets aluminum pedals and here and there you will find plastic with a carbon fiber look. LED headlights, Smart Entry, two-zone climate control, a 360-grande camera and a JBL audio system are also included.

The Toyota Hilux GR Sport can be ordered immediately and has a starting price of €45,995. Please note, this is the starting price of the gray license plate version.
