The electric Toyota bZ4X does not stand alone, but is the start of an entire electric Toyota line-up. We already knew that, but now it is also clear what that bZ series will consist of.

The information comes from a live stream from Toyota’s top management and is therefore still somewhat sketchy, just like the images. More details will undoubtedly follow later, but we already have a nice sketch of the electric Toyota future for you. The worldwide bZ series will initially consist of five models.

As said, it starts with the bZ4X, the already presented crossover of Volkswagen ID4 format. The crossover theme then remains intact, as three of the four other bZ models also fit that description. For example, there is the car that is provisionally called ‘bZ Compact SUV’, but may be called bZ3X. This is a coupé-style crossover, with a steeply sloping roofline and what appears to be one large, continuous sheet of glass from the front to the rear of the passenger cabin.

bZ Small Crossover

The smallest of the SUV bunch is the red bZ Small Crossover. This immediately seems to be the most interesting car for Europe, which according to CEO Toyoda and based on the wide number plates, the model is also intended for. The sturdy, square carriage shows some similarities with that of the Aygo X, but is clearly tougher and larger at the same time. Akio Toyoda indicates that the intention is to make this car as efficient as possible. This is important, because large batteries with a small EV can quickly have negative consequences for driving behavior and consumption. Instead of an enormous battery capacity, Toyota therefore prefers to aim for low consumption, with 125 Wh/km as the target.

bZ SDN

Pinkish silver bZ SDN is the only non-crossover of the bunch. Instead, it is a mid-sized sedan, a car that therefore appears to be the least suitable for the European market. If we again go by the size of the chosen ‘license plate’, then China seems to be the main target for this model. The rightmost and last car of the bunch is the bZ Large SUV. This is a large seven-seater, which will undoubtedly have to make it mainly in the US and perhaps also in China.

You would think that it would have been just as nice with four new models at one time, but Toyota thinks differently. The ‘wall’ behind these cars is actually a canvas, and behind that canvas are many more EVs. Keep F5ing!
