Toyota unveils Proace City Electric

Toyota is adding a new electric model to its delivery range. The Toyota Proace City is now also available as Electric. The passenger version of Toyota’s smallest commercial vehicle, the Proace City Verso, will also receive a fully electric Electric version.

The Toyota Proace City is Toyota’s version of the Citroën Berlingo Van, Peugeot Partner and Opel Combo. Just like its sister models from Stellantis, the Proace City is also available in a passenger version, a variant that goes by the name Proace City Verso and which at Citroën, Peugeot and Opel is successively called Berlingo, Rifter and Combo Life. Of course there are many more similarities between the models and now there is another similarity. Both the passenger and commercial vehicle versions of the Toyota Proace City are now available with a fully electric powertrain.

This makes Toyota the last of the four brands mentioned to add fully electric versions of its smallest commercial vehicle to its delivery range. It should come as no surprise that the technology of the Proace City Electric and Proace City Verso Electric matches that of the ë-Berlingo (Van), e-Rifter, e-Partner, Combo-e and Combo-e Life. The electric Proace City’s therefore have a 136 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor that draws its zest for life from a 50 kWh battery pack that is incorporated in the bottom of the car. Depending on the chosen length and version, the range is 260 to 280 WLTP kilometers. The top speed of the electric Proace City Electric and Proace City Verso Electric is limited to 135 km / h. Incidentally, the power in Eco mode is limited to 82 hp and 180 Nm.

A 3-phase 11 kW on-board charger is standard. The 50 kWh battery can thus be fully charged in about 5 hours. With a 100 kW fast charger, the package can be pumped up to 80 percent of its capacity with electricity in 30 minutes. Toyota gives the two electric Proace models an electronic parking brake as standard.

Toyota supplies the ProAce City as a 4.4 meter long L1 version and as a 4.75 meter long L2 flavor. The latter has a loading volume of 3.9 cubic meters. The load capacity of the L1 variant is 800 kilos, the L2 remains stuck at 750 kilos due to its higher weight. The passenger version Proace City Verso Electric is also available in L1 and L2 flavors, with the first seat for five occupants and the L2 being a seven-seater. The maximum towing weight of all electric Proace’s Verso Electric is 750 kilos.

The Toyota Proace City Electric and Proace City Verso Electric can be found at Dutch dealers in the fourth quarter of this year. Prices will follow in the run-up to the market launch. Toyota also has two more electric space giants in the range: the Proace Electric and Proace Verso Electric.
