Toyota Yaris as a hard-hitting rally cannon

The Toyota GR Yaris seems like a true rally cannon for the road. Now, based on the new Toyota Yaris, there is also a rally blast for off the beaten track. The Australian branch of Toyota presents the GR Yaris AP4 to the world.

At least, Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia is showing the first digital drawings of the GR Yaris AP4, a rally car that will show its skills at the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) next year. The GR Yaris AP4 is a rally version of the fierce GR Yaris, a car called GR Yaris Rallye in Australia. According to Toyota, it is the first time that Toyota itself is actively participating in the design of a rally car.

The GR Yaris AP4 was co-developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia, Toyota Australia and Neal Bates Motorsport. A four-time winner of the Australian Rally Championship, Neal Bates is back at the head of Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia. However the car came about, it certainly looks fierce. The GR Yaris AP4 has a hefty body kit complete with heavily expanded wheel arches. The rally Yaris has a hood with extra cooling vents and a truly immense spoiler at the top of its bottom. The rally-Yaris retains its crazy three-cylinder, but how powerful it is in the GR Yaris 261 hp and 360 Nm strong 1.6 in the rally version, Toyota does not report. Two of these fierce Yaris will be built for the 2021 rally season.
