It shone through in a previous article, but the Tesla Model Y is now also officially available with a towbar. The very popular accessory in the Netherlands appears to have two significant plus points compared to the model that is supplied on the Model 3.
The Tesla Model Y is based on the very popular Model 3 in our country, so that the towbar would come is not really news. With the popular sedan, the hook was already added to the configurator in May 2019, after which many buyers ticked the option, especially in the Netherlands.
With the Model Y, the added value is even greater than with the “3”, for the simple reason that the compact SUV can tow considerably more. Where the maximum towing weight of the Model 3 is still 910 kg, no more than 1,600 kg can be towed behind a Y.
In addition, the naturally detachable towbar is also available for the more expensive Performance version of the Model Y, where the sporty top version of the Model 3 always has to do without. With both the Long Range and the Performance, Tesla charges € 1,050 for the addition, remarkably a slightly lower amount than the € 1,080 that is with the Model 3.
