S-class refined in detail
We were shocked too, but it has already been four years this year since the current generation of the S-class was presented. Normally models go under the knife after about four years, but we have not yet seen a wrapped test sample of the Mercedes-Benz S-class. Until now!
In the market for a German sedan in the top class? Then you can contact Audi for an A8 and Mercedes-Benz for an electric EQS, but of course also for an S-class. The current generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-class made its public debut in September 2020, which means that the W223 generation will turn four years old this year. Our spy photographer was given a packed test sample of the refreshed S-class in front of the lens.
You don’t have to count on major exterior changes, but there are certainly optical adjustments. It appears that the grille of this packed test sample continues downwards and will therefore cover a larger part of the front. Furthermore, the S-class gets tightened bumper work and the headlights also seem to be revised. Whether they actually change shape or just take on a different interpretation remains to be seen. The buttocks of the updated S-class in these photos are still fanatically covered with camouflage work. It is currently unclear what novelties lie beneath.
The S-class is of course Mercedes’ showcase for new technology and gadgets and so we expect the updated S-class to have some infotainment systems and – semi-autonomous – driver assistance and safety systems. We also expect that the S580 – and not the plug-in hybrid S580e – will receive a renewed and now mild-hybrid V8. Definitely more later this year!
