Unfortunately: the design of the Apple Watch Series 10 will not be spectacular after all

While it was previously predicted that the Apple Watch Series 10 would get a new design, that now seems not to be the case. Here’s what we already know about the Apple Watch X.

Apple Watch Series 10

Apple is celebrating an anniversary this year, as it has been ten years since the first Apple Watch was announced. Expectations for the Apple Watch Series 10 (or Apple Watch X) are therefore high. Rumors said that major changes would be coming to the smartwatch this year, including a completely new design. Now it seems that the design of the Apple Watch Series 10 will not be drastically changed after all.

Earlier rumors predicted that the Apple Watch X would get a new design. It was expected that the smartwatch would become much thinner, partly due to a new system with magnetic watch straps. The usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman even spoke of the biggest redesign ever for the Apple Watch. Unfortunately, it now appears that the design of the Apple Watch Series 10 will not be that spectacular at all.

Larger display

Last week, the first schematics of the Apple Watch Series 10 surfaced, revealing the design of the smartwatch. The images show few changes, as the device looks very similar to the Apple Watch Series 9 (and previous Apple Watches). The corners have been rounded again, the thickness is virtually unchanged and the Digital Crown can be found in the same place as before.

One change that does seem almost certain is a larger display on the Apple Watch X. The design of the Apple Watch Series 10 shows a screen of 45 and 49 millimeters. With previous Apple Watches you can choose between 41 and 45 millimeters, the Apple Watch Ultra (2) already has a 49 mm screen. For a larger screen you will no longer have to choose the more expensive Apple Watch Ultra.

Release Apple Watch Series 10

It is unclear why Apple decided not to introduce a new design for the Apple Watch Series 10. It is possible that the company ran into production issues and decided to stick with the existing design. Another possibility is that the company never intended to change the design, because the current design is good enough.

The smartwatch will be released in September, when Apple also presents the iPhone 16. Early September we will see which design Apple has chosen for the Apple Watch Series 10.
