Mild hybrid technology, a new 1.5 petrol engine, new safety systems and various external changes: these are the most important news that Hyundai announces for the i30. The updated model is presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

Hyundai has renewed the i30. The hatchback, Fastback and Wagon have a new nose with sharper lines, following the new i20. New wheels and colors and a modified rear bumper are also present, as well as a new light signature on the front and rear. Hyundai has redesigned the air vents in the interior and new colors are available.

A new, 10.25-inch touchscreen displays on the dashboard, while the instrument panel has a 7-inch screen. Hyundai introduces various new active safety systems on the i30, such as a roadway assistant, a blind spot system and a system that tries to prevent rear-end collisions.

There are various news items in the motor field. The brand introduces mild hybrid technology on the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDI engine and the 1.6 CRDi diesel with 136 hp. A turbo-free 1.5-step engine with 110 hp is new. The same 1.5, but with turbo, replaces the 1.4 engine and also delivers 20 hp more. The now 160-horsepower version is also equipped with mild hybrid support. Furthermore, the 1.6 CRDi diesel with 110 hp remains available unchanged. All engines, except for the 1.5 entry version, are optionally available with a seven-speed automatic.

The updated i30 is coming to the Netherlands at the end of the summer. The prices are not yet known.
