IPHONE OR IPAD BROKEN, DATA LOST?
Question of the month: “My iPad broke down after many years and won’t boot anymore. The information on it is important to me. Can I get that data off my iPad?”
Answer: If access to your iPhone or iPad requires your fingerprint or a passcode, you will no longer be able to collect data from your device. Your data is encrypted with a code that is unique to each iPhone or iPad, making it unreadable by anyone trying to rescue your data. This also ensures that the data on your device is very safe.

Apple Backup 2
Backup automatically via Cloud or manually via your computer

AUTOMATIC BACKUP VIA ICLOUD
To never lose data, it is best to use iCloud. Through Institutions, your name (at the top of your Apple ID logo), and the choice iCloud see whether backups are already being made automatically for your iPhone or iPad in iCloud. The first 5 GB in iCloud is free and for € 0.99 per month you get 50 GB of storage.

HOW TO DELETE OLD BACKUPS
When you start using a new device, an old backup can take up unnecessary space. To see if there are any old backups you can delete, go to Institutions, your name (at the top of your Apple ID logo), iCloud and then Manage Storage to Backups. Here you can delete old backups that have not been updated in a while.

RESTORE WITH APPLE ID + PASSWORD ONLY
With your Apple ID and password you can easily place a backup on a new iPhone or iPad. It is therefore important never to lose that data. If you’ve lost your Apple ID password, you can contact Apple Support to see if the password can be recovered.

MANUAL BACKUP THROUGH YOUR COMPUTER
For manual backups on your Mac or Windows computer, connect your iPhone or iPad via a USB charging cable. On newer Macs, you can back up via the finder. On older Macs with macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier and Windows computers, open the iTunes program. When saving on your computer, you make an unencrypted backup by default.
Finally, a useful tip is to keep your proof of purchase in case you ever run into an activation lock and it is not possible to unlock your device with your Apple ID. Then the Apple Support employees have more options to help you out.

DO YOU HAVE AN APPLE QUESTION?
You can easily find answers to common Apple questions by clicking on the service or your device in the Apple Support app. You can install this app in the App Store on your iPhone and iPad. Bee subjects click on More (see image below).

Apple Support 2
Find answers to many Apple questions in the Apple Support app

If you can’t figure it out, you can easily get in touch with an employee within the warranty period via the Support app who can help you further.
As a member of HCC, you can also easily ask questions from your home after the warranty period has expired via www.questbaak.hcc.nl. Some HCC!apple volunteers also regularly answer Apple questions submitted via the FAQ.

Apple digital home button 2
With a digital home button you have many extra options

DIGITAL HOME BUTTON FOR YOUR IPHONE OR IPAD
The latest iPhones and iPads no longer have a home button. If you find the new swipe gestures a bit difficult or if the home button on an older device no longer works properly, you can Institutions and Accessibility and then To touch and AssistiveTouch place a white digital home button with a black border on the screen.
In the same menu you can access Custom TakeChoose n functions for short, double and long touch of this button. Handy functions that you can set up in this way include a quick jump to the home page with one click, and choose additional functions with a double tap (which you can set via Customize top menu or take a screenshot by pressing the button longer. You can drag the digital button to the desired place, make it more transparent or turn it off again with the switch at the back AssistiveTouch.
