VDL Nedcar flat due to cyber attack

Industrial group VDL is currently dealing with a cyber attack. As a result, the VDL Nedcar factory in Born in Limburg has also been shut down.

According to the ANP, VDL itself cannot yet reveal much about the scope and impact of the attack. However, ‘De Limburger’ confirms the suspicion that VDL’s car factory has also been affected and production there is currently at a standstill. A number of company employees would have indicated to that medium that the factory will also be shut down tomorrow, but nothing is officially known about this yet.

VDL Nedcar is currently building – but not now – BMWs and Minis. That will stop at the end of 2023, but then the company in Limburg can get started with the stubborn products of the American start-up Canoo if everything goes according to plan.

The cyber attack is not limited to Nedcar, but also affects all other VDL companies. The Eindhoven VDL Groep comprises a total of 105 subsidiaries, subdivided into the Subcontracting, Car Assembly, Buses and Finished Products divisions. More than 15,000 people work at VDL.
