Volkswagen is expanding its model range in the short term with a new model that it adds to the Arteon family. It is about the previously announced new shooting brake from the brand, a car that has now surfaced almost without camouflage patches.
In August last year, a remarkable piece of text appeared in a Volkswagen press release. The brand announced the arrival of a new model that described it as a shooting brake. We suspected at the time that it would be a more practical variant of the Arteon and those suspicions were confirmed not much later when the first photos of that ‘Arteon Shooting Brake’ appeared on the internet. On a new set of espionage photos, Volkswagen’s newcomer can be seen almost without camouflaging sticker work.
The ‘Arteon Shooting Brake’, an official name is not yet known, you should actually see it as the Arteon Variant, but with a roof line that runs relatively early for a station wagon. Count on an engine palette that matches that of the regular Arteon and that means that this new body variant will also be available with a 190 hp 2.0 TSI and with a 2.0 TDI that mobilizes as many horsepower. Whether the 272-horsepower 2.0 TSI, combined with 4Motion drive, will also be available is as yet unclear. The regular Arteon was initially available with this powertrain, but it was later removed from the price list. We may get to know more about the new member of the Arteon family at the IAA, which takes place in Munich this year.
