Volkswagen T-Roc

The T-Roc is still Volkswagen’s most popular SUV-type. With its introduction year of 2017, the successful crossover in Europe is one of the brand’s oldest models. High time for complete innovation!

Now that the Tiguan has been completely renewed, the T-Roc, introduced in 2017, is Volkswagen’s oldest crossover or SUV-like vehicle. At least, if we forget the Tiguan Allspace, which is still available. The relatively high age of the T-Roc does not seem to have any influence on its success. It was the brand’s best-selling SUV-type in 2023 in Europe. Because everything has an expiration date, Volkswagen is now working hard on a completely new T-Roc, which should extend the success of the current model. We now have the first images of the second generation Volkswagen T-Roc.

Volkswagen seems to be keeping the T-Roc’s success formula completely intact. The latest version also appears to be less of an SUV than the larger, but similar Tiguan. Compared to the Golf, it seeks heights much more. The T-Roc does seem to have grown a size, especially in terms of length. Although the basic shape remains intact, the new model looks more stretched. The rear window is considerably flatter. The silver-colored strip that follows the roofline of the current T-Roc returns on the new model. Also striking: the side mirrors move slightly downwards and are now located on the sheet metal of the doors.

The now approximately 7-year-old T-Roc was joined by the T-Roc Cabrio in 2019. Unfortunately for those who were charmed by such a playful, long-legged convertible: it is not returning. In the Netherlands, Volkswagen delivered almost 3,000 copies of the T-Roc last year. It outperformed the T-Cross and Taigo and even managed to stay ahead of the Tiguan. Since its Dutch market introduction, almost 25,000 T-Rocs have been delivered in our country. 2019 was its best sales year, when 5,734 copies were registered in the Netherlands.
