Apple has released a series of updates! On Monday, May 12, new software versions for the iPhone, iPad, Mac (book), Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and the Apple Watch appeared. For the latter, Apple Watchos has rolled out 11.5. With the update, two new functions come to the Apple Watch. One of those new features is a dial, which is stated in the theme of the Pride collection.
The new dial fits in with the pride backgrounds that come to the iPhone and iPad with iOS 18.5 and iPados 18.5. The Pride guide plate for the Apple Watch moves when you lift the wrist with your smartwatch. In the background, the colors then shift and large numbers for the hours are formed. It is therefore a dynamic dial, which responds to the movements of your wrist. That happens when your Apple Watch is unlocked, but also if it is still locked.

The new dial in Watchos 11.5 is also one of the few backgrounds that the second guide shows when the screen is damped. This is a new function of the Apple Watch Series 10, which has a renewed always-on screen. This improved display has a refresh rate of once every second, so that the second hand can always be shown. That is still possible with few dials, but the Pride background offers that option.
In addition, Watchos 11.5 brings a new payment option to the Apple TV app. If you use this application on a device of a third party, you can pay after installing the update via ‘Buy with Apple Watch’. Previously this was only possible on the Apple TV app at Apple devices itself, but now you can use the function on all devices. That makes buying content in the Apple TV app easier.
Bugfixes in Watchos 11.5
Furthermore, Apple mainly makes small improvements in Watchos 11.5. For example, a software fault was solved, which ensured that the iPhone did not give a report if the Apple Watch was fully charged. After installing the new software version, you will get that notification, so that you know exactly when you can remove the Apple Watch from the charger. In addition, security problems of the smartwatch are solved.
