Apple has presented the most important software updates of the year! This year Watchos 26 is coming to the smartwatch, where Apple provides the operating system with a new interface. In Watchos 26, Apple introduces more transparent frameworks and transparent elements. The Apple Watch therefore feels completely like new again, but this is not the most important function of Watchos 26.
The Apple Watch gets a new gesture with Watchos 26. In 2023, Apple was already expanding the number of hand gestures, because then the company introduced Tik Dubbel. By simply tapping your thumb and forefinger against each other you can operate the Apple Watch, for example, you start a workout. With Watchos 26 a new wrist gesture is added, because you can then close notifications by briefly turning your wrist away.
Wrist movement
Do you get a notification on your Apple Watch? Then you can close it again from Watchos 26 with a fast wrist movement. In Watchos 11 or earlier you had to press the Digital Crown or put your hand on the screen. With Watchos 26 that changes, because you can finally remove notifications with one movement. They disappear from the screen through the wrist movement, but they are stored in the reporting center.
The new function is a handy addition, because you can finally close reports with a simple wrist movement. This comes in handy when you are cycling, walking the dog, standing in the kitchen or holding a cup of coffee. In these situations, reports can be handled much more conveniently, so that the dial is visible on the Apple Watch. This way you can see the time again at a glance, without removing the notification with your other hand.
Release of Watchos 26
The Apple Watch gets a handy function with Watchos 26. Unfortunately, the wrist gesture does not come to all devices, only the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 are expanded with the feature. These are the same models that already have support for the Tik Double gesture of Watchos 10. All other Apple Watches have to do without these gestures.
Apple has already announced all new functions and the new design of Watchos 26 on June 9, but the release is only in September.
