iOS 16 may not get a major redesign, but the new version will still be a major update. And the beta of iOS 15.5 is already giving first hints about the features of iOS 16. Here’s what you need to know.
iOS 15.5 beta hints at features iOS 16
Yesterday, through Mark Gurman, we heard the first rumors about iOS 16. The new version of the operating system for the iPhone will be presented in two months, during the WWDC. However, it now appears that the beta of iOS 15.5 already contains first hints about the functions of iOS 16.
Gurman talked about extensive settings for notifications. These features seem to be directly related to Focus. In the code of iOS 15.5, a line of text has surfaced that states that you must update to a newer version of iOS for certain focus functions. And that will be iOS 16.
More setting options
What could the new setting options mean? For example, think of more precise settings for which websites you can visit during a focus in Safari or that contacts can only reach you via certain apps. Optionally, you could even set notifications within apps more precisely.
More news for Apple News
In the Netherlands (and Belgium) we still don’t have access to Apple News. For the small number of countries where the service is available, a new type of content seems to be coming in iOS 16.
Because a line of text has also appeared in the code of iOS 15.5 for Apple News. It states that you must update your device to view the type of content and News is no longer fully supported for older devices.
