- Most important measure for diarrhea: drink a lot! The high fluid loss weakens the body. Water or mild tea are ideal. If the diarrhea lasts longer, you can easily make your own electrolyte solution and compensate for the loss of fluid. Mix half a liter of water with a teaspoon of salt, five teaspoons of sugar and half a liter of tea or orange juice and drink at least two liters a day. Bring two tablespoons of it to the boil in 250 milliliters of water, let it simmer for a quarter of an hour, strain it and drink a cup of it several times a day. Danger: This only works with dried blueberries – the fresh fruits can even have a laxative effect.
- Also Healing earth provides a remedy because it binds germs. Dissolve one to two teaspoons of healing earth for internal use in 250 milliliters of water twice a day and drink it in small sips.
- Fruit containing pectin such as apples causes the stool to become a little firmer again. The pectin swells in the intestine and draws fluid from it. To do this, grate the apple, preferably with a peel, and let it stand until it is brown. Then take it by the spoon. You can also use ripe bananas and crush them with a fork – but they have a higher one CO2 footprint as seasonal apples.

Especially when traveling to foreign countries and the hot season, diarrhea is increasing. However, you can avoid many causes if you follow a few simple behaviors:
- Wash hands as often as possible: not only after visiting the toilet, but also before every meal.
