WhatsApp gets more AI functions
More AI functions are coming to WhatsApp! The messaging service recently added Meta AI, that is the new chatbot of the company. Meta AI responds to all your questions or assignments and is available in every (group) interview. At the moment you can mainly ask questions to Meta AI, but many more functions will be added soon. WhatsApp is being expanded with a new writing aid in both private and group discussions.
The writing aid is now available at the first users of WhatsApp and helps with the preparation or rewriting of messages. You can adjust texts with the help of the new writing aid or make the tone of messages more professional, funnier or more helpful. In addition, the new AI functions can check texts in WhatsApp on spell and grammar errors, which are automatically improved with Meta AI.
Consequences for your privacy
The new AI functions of WhatsApp are processed in the same way as the questions asked to Meta AI. This means that features such as rewriting and preparing messages with private processing are processed. That happens on external Meta servers, but all messages remain encrypted end-to-end and are never stored. That means that even Meta and WhatsApp cannot read the messages.
Do you prefer not to use the new AI positions on WhatsApp? When the writing aid is available in Dutch you must enable it manually. To do that, a notification appears in WhatsApp, where you get the choice to set up or off the writing aid. It has also recently been possible to eliminate Meta AI for all conversations. WhatsApp regularly adds new functions to the application, which will probably be dominated by Meta AI in the coming period. Now that the new chatbot is available worldwide for users, Meta is planning to introduce even more AI functions.
