Whatsapp spam (and strange messages) prevent: this is how you do it
With so many WhatsApp users in the Netherlands, it is of course a bit interesting for spammers and hackers to steal your personal data and more via the popular app. More and more often you hear about different scams and other shady things that happen via the WhatsApp.
In fact, everyone has had to deal with messages from unknown songs, which you are not actually waiting for. Especially if these accounts also try to inform you. Immediately blocking is the best solution. But WhatsApp also has a way to automatically prevent this type of spam.
The best way to prevent almost the most spam of unknown songs is to have them block automatically by the app. WhatsApp has a handy attitude for that. That’s how you set it.
Unknown accounts on WhatsApp automatically block
- Open WhatsApp and tap on ‘Settings’ at the bottom;
- Choose ‘privacy’ in the next window;
- Scroll down and choose ‘Advanced’;
- Turn on the ‘Blokker Messages Unknown Accounts’ function.
A comment must be made at this setting. This does not block all messages from unknown accounts. But the function helps if you get a large amount of spam.
Do you still get a spam message? Then you can tap the ‘Blocker’ button that you get to see as an unknown number sends you a message. Then choose the ‘Block’ or ‘Block and report’ option.
By the way, you can also block someone you have known for a long time. You do that by opening the chat conversation and tapping the person’s name, at the top of the screen. Then scroll down and choose ‘Block’. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
