Every Sunday you read a column by John Vanderaart, previously he was ComputerIdee’s FAQ man. Besides the Sunday column, John also writes a great column in PC-Active magazine. PC-Active 323 will be published on March 18, in which the new column will appear and John answers many readers’ questions.
The weather was nice and I did a HEMA errand on my bike. Diagonally across from HEMA is the VvE office where my wife works. I was in the mood for a cup of coffee, so that stopover was quickly made. It didn’t come from coffee, but panic did. My wife’s co-worker was in a state of disarray because her laptop was all messed up! I saw it right away: “Windows 11 was automatically installed over Windows 10.” Or maybe – without realizing the consequences – she had approved something somewhere. I’d like to get rid of that… The first problem: “The taskbar was completely gone!” Now that taskbar was just centered, but therefore no longer recognizable as a taskbar. Yep, solved 1-2-3 by aligning the taskbar to the left again. The second problem: “Outlook was completely gone!” There was a shortcut to Outlook on the desktop and it wasn’t with it. Hup, 1-2-3 solved by placing another shortcut on the desktop from the Start menu and the file location. Was that all? Yes, that was all! I never saw that coffee again.
