Google Maps has again added a handy function to give you a hand. If you are looking for a nice film that is showing in the area, you can now check cinema times via Google Maps.
Google Maps now shows cinema times
Google Maps is now much more than a simple navigation app. Google regularly adds new features to help you plan outings. For example, Maps gives personal restaurant recommendations and from now on you can also check cinema times via the app.
If you feel like grabbing a movie, you no longer have to scour all the websites of cinemas in your area. Simply search for “cinema” in Google Maps and tap a movie theater near you. In the latest version of the app, the corresponding showtimes for films will then appear, under the heading ‘Show times’.
This way you can easily go through all the cinemas to find the best time. It is possible to watch the cinema times up to six days in advance. These are conveniently shown per film. Did you find a movie? Then tap on a time to buy a ticket right away.
Google Maps shows an overview with the date and time, but also provides a direct link to the correct web page of the cinema to score tickets in advance. It is also nice that every film is shown whether it is a normal or 3D display.
Handy in unfamiliar cities
The function is also useful if you are unfamiliar somewhere, but still want to go to the cinema spontaneously. This way you can immediately navigate to the right address in Google Maps, or find a restaurant in the area to have dinner beforehand.
The update to version 5.18 is already available. In addition, this update adds a second feature. The ‘Explore’ tab now also contains the ‘Events’ button. Here the app shows you nearby events. You can filter these results by categories such as sports, art, comedy, festivals and concerts.
