New function for the battery
Does the battery of your iPhone (too) go empty quickly? In that case you get a handy function that ensures that you do longer with the battery of your iPhone. With iOS 26, Apple makes many improvements on the iPhone. One of these is a more extensive menu at the battery settings. There, Apple introduces ‘adaptive electricity’ in iOS 26, which is a supplement to the existing energy -saving mode.
The energy saving mode has been available on the iPhone since iOS 9. This function ensures that the iPhone limits some (background) activities when the battery percentage is twenty percent or lower. With iOS 26 there is adaptive power, that function ensures that your iPhone also saves on the battery in a battery percentage above twenty percent. For that you have to adjust the settings of your iPhone.
Enable adaptive power
Do you want to prevent the battery of your iPhone from becoming empty too quickly? Then it is advisable to switch on adaptive power. With the new function of iOS 26, the battery of the iPhone lasts longer, due to small adjustments to the power consumption of the device. To switch on adaptive power, you have to look carefully in the settings of your iPhone, because Apple has not given the feature a prominent place. You switch on adaptive power as follows:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
- Tap ‘battery’;
- Go to ‘start -up mode’;
- Turn on the switch ‘adaptive power’.
Have you switched on adaptive power? The iPhone then makes small adjustments when the battery use is higher than normal. It is about adjustments to the performance of the device, so the screen brightness is lowered or the loading of certain activities takes a little longer. With these small adjustments, the battery life of your iPhone is extended, so that you do longer with the battery after charging once.
Not for all iPhones
The new function for the iPhone battery is part of iOS 26, but is unfortunately not available on all devices. Only the newest iPhones are expanded with adaptive electricity. For this feature you need an iPhone 15 Pro (Max), iPhone 16th, iPhone 16 (plus) or iPhone 16 Pro (Max). Do you have an iPhone 15 (plus) or older? Then you have to do it in iOS 26 without the new institution. Energy saving mode remains available on those devices.
