ETERNALIZE YOUR FILES
If you want to store valuable files as safely as possible, you cannot ignore online storage. After all, traditional storage devices will fail sooner or later, such as an external hard drive, SSD or NAS. In addition, doomsday scenarios are not unthinkable, such as fire, water damage or theft. By storing precious images and other important files with HiDrive, you will never lose this data. STRATO’s certified server parks are among the safest data centers in the world. They are also close by, in Germany. The lines are literally short, so you benefit from fast upload and download times. All files remain in Europe once and for all, meaning your data is subject to strict EU privacy legislation. This means that governments cannot simply request user data. That is different with American cloud services! You can also optionally enable two-step verification for extra security.

UPLOAD PHOTOS AND VIDEOS
Anyone who registers with HiDrive creates a username and password. You can now log in to the cloud service with any browser.To do this, visit the web page https://my.hidrive.com/#login . Please feel free to go through the steps of the introduction screen and get acquainted with the Dutch user environment. Obviously there are no files in HiDrive yet. You can easily do something about that. Click on the blue button at the top right Upload / Upload folder and browse to a photo folder on your computer. Then confirm with Upload. This process can take a while, especially when you copy a lot of data to HiDrive at the same time. Fortunately, the online storage service supports almost all common image formats, including Apple’s heic format. This allows you to view photos directly in the browser.

Many people constantly take snapshots and videos with their smartphones. You can upload them directly to the HiDrive server. If you accidentally lose your device, the footage will in any case not be lost. Install the HiDrive app from the Play or App Store and then log in with your account details. The main window contains all your personal files. Navigate to Institutions / Upload photos automatically and activate the switch. Additionally, decide whether you also want to store videos in the cloud. With the default settings, the HiDrive app only uploads footage via WiFi.
SHARE SNAPS
Sharing photos is sometimes difficult in practice. For example, you cannot simply email a photo album to a friend or family member. The file size often turns out to be too large. You can easily solve this problem with HiDrive. Send a unique sharing link so that people you know can download the footage on their own device. Open HiDrive in a browser (e.g. Google Chrome) and right-click on a file or folder. As soon as you To share Select, a new window will appear. Click Institutions when you want to protect the link with a password. In that case, confirm with Save. Finally, you type an email address and personal message, after which you conclude with Send.
EXTENSIVE FUNCTIONALITY
With HiDrive you can backup much more than just photos, videos and other files. If you redeem the reader offer (see box), you will have access to an online office package, for example. This allows you to edit Microsoft Office and OpenDocument files from anywhere. HiDrive Office is therefore a full-fledged alternative to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. For extra security, you can set up end-to-end encryption and device backups if you wish. STRATO charges a small additional fee for both specialized options. You can also activate additional access protocols after an additional payment. Optionally let HiDrive work with a NAS. In short, with this German-made cloud service you can go in any direction!
