Wuling Zhengtu: over 5 meters long, just as narrow as a Smart

The Chinese brand Wuling has presented a new pick-up that is not only quite long, but also very narrow. The Chinese consumer is introduced to the Zhengtu, of which Wuling presents a coolly dressed variant to draw attention to the model.

Wuling is a brand that was founded in 2002 as a result of a partnership between the Chinese car manufacturer SAIC and the American giant General Motors. The brand has, among other things, a series of compact commercial vehicles in its program, but in recent years has increasingly focused on MPVs such as the Victory and cute compact EVs. This time, the brand presents a new model in the segment in which it has the most experience. We welcome: the Zhengtu.

The Zhengtu, a double cab pick-up with a total of five seats, has striking dimensions. Although at 5.11 meters in length, it is only 15 centimeters shorter than pickups like the Nissan Navara and Volkswagen Amarok, it is only 1.64 meters wide. That makes it just as narrow as a Smart ForFour. There is a distance of 3.16 meters between the front and rear axle, which means that Wuling is able to exceed the wheelbase of the aforementioned Navara by one centimeter. The body has a depth of exactly two meters, which makes the Zhengtu very practical of course. The cargo box not only has a flap on the back, but is also equipped with flaps that hinge down on the sides.

Under the hood is an atmospheric 1.5, a petrol engine that generates 99 hp. Pros for Wuling’s marketing department. The Zhengtu is available in paint colors with fierce sounding names such as Wild Wizard, Scorching Sun Rock and Mountain Fireworks. Wuling’s practical newcomer is always rear-wheel drive and uses a ladder chassis. Images of the interior are not yet available.
